The Sun Found Him
I imagined the sun coming out from behind the clouds and catching this pelican for just a moment. The light gives his feathers a warm glow, while his pink bill stands out against the hazy blue sky.
The sea was a joy to paint. I used a palette knife to build up the waves, giving the water a texture you can see up close. I love the contrast between that restless sea and the pelican standing so still and beautifully in the light.
