The Garden Supervisor
The magpies are never far away when I’m gardening. They watch while I work, knowing that a turn of the soil might reveal something tasty. Then they stride about as though the whole garden belongs to them, bossing the other birds out of their way.
I’m fascinated by their confidence, but also by how beautiful they are when you stop and look closely. In this painting, I wanted to capture that watchful eye and the detail in the black and white feathers against a clear blue background.
