The sea at Southend has colours that make me stop and stare. In the little inlets, the water turns the most beautiful turquoise, framed by rugged rocky outcrops and an open sky.
I loved capturing the contrast between those weathered rocks and the soft, clear colours of the water. This painting is my way of bringing home that feeling of standing beside the ocean, taking a deep breath and letting everything else wait a while.
