I loved painting the evening sky in this piece, letting soft pinks, lilacs and blues drift through the clouds. That last warm light catches the pelican’s head, breast and bill, then leaves little touches of pink across the water.
There’s a gentle stillness to this one. The pelican stands above the sea while the colour of the sunset seems to settle around him.
