I wanted this painting to have the feeling of looking up into a canopy of flowers. A large pink protea hangs at the centre, with banksia, wattle and foliage gathered around it. Each has its own shape and texture, yet the colours sit beautifully together.
I loved painting the layered petals and the long pink bracts, then setting them against deep greens and a soft blush background. It’s a vibrant, uplifting piece with plenty of detail to enjoy up close and a presence that fills a wall.
