These proteas and leucadendrons came from my garden, and I wanted to paint them with all the energy and colour that made me stop and admire them in the first place. The pink proteas are full of detail, while the yellow leucadendrons seem to dance around them.
I chose a bright turquoise background to give the flowers that extra lift. This is such a happy painting to me: a little piece of the garden at its most colourful.
