I wanted to capture a still moment with this kookaburra resting on its branch. I enjoyed painting the detail in the timber and the layers of feathers, especially those surprising touches of blue among the browns.
Behind it, I blended soft greens and greys to suggest the surrounding landscape without drawing attention away from the bird. The gentle background makes the kookaburra stand out while keeping the whole painting peaceful.
