I painted this budgie when I was in one of my wildly colourful moods. I wanted a piece that would stand out across a room and bring a little zing to a space full of beige furnishings.
The pink and golden background gives that brilliant blue plenty of room to shine. Up close, there’s so much more to discover in the fine markings around its face and the layers of feathers. To me, it’s a cheerful little bird with a big presence.
