Blue wrens have a special place in my heart. They hop around my house and garden, watching intently while I work in the veggie patch. As soon as I turn over the soil, they’re in there looking for little bugs. So small and delicate, yet full of character.
They also hold a special place in my painting journey. A blue wren was one of the first birds I painted that came together just as I’d hoped, and I’ve adored painting them ever since. In this portrait, I loved capturing the brilliant blue feathers, soft little chest and upright tail—the familiar beauty of a much-loved garden companion.
