This still life is part of a series in which I’ve been exploring the beauty of David Austin roses. I love their many layers of petals and the way each flower opens a little differently.
Here, pink and yellow blooms gather in a simple glass vase, with a couple of fallen leaves resting on the table. I kept the background soft and hazy to give the painting an ethereal feel and let the roses hold the attention.
