A Colourful Yarn
These two magpies look to me as though they’re in the middle of a lively conversation. One has its beak in the air; the other seems ready with a reply. I loved giving them that little bit of character.
I painted the birds with close attention to their feathers and expressions, then let the background go completely wild. The greens, turquoise and hot pink aren’t meant to be a realistic landscape. They’re the colour and energy I felt around this pair, and I love the contrast of realism and UNREALISM!
