Oktoberfest Cooking Class 04/10/26

$185.00

Get ready for a seriously delicious Oktoberfest Cooking Class!

We’re bringing a little taste of Bavaria to The Post & Rail for a hands-on day of cooking some of Germany’s most comforting, hearty and downright delicious food.

First up, we’re making traditional German Pretzels from scratch — learning how to shape them and create that gorgeous deep golden crust and chewy centre. And because a warm pretzel deserves something equally good alongside it, we’ll make a delicious Beer Cheese Dip to go with it.

Then it’s time for one of the stars of our Oktoberfest feast — Schweinshaxe. We’ll take pork knuckle and turn it into something wonderfully tender and succulent on the inside, with that all-important crisp, golden crackling on the outside.

To serve alongside it, we’ll make Spaetzle, those wonderful little German egg noodles that are much easier to make than you might think, finished with a rich and flavoursome Mushroom Sauce.

And I simply cannot run a German cooking class without making Kartoffelpuffer — partly because these crispy German potato pancakes are absolutely delicious and partly because I still really enjoy saying Kartoffelpuffer! My Mum would kill me if we didn’t serve this with Apple Mousse and so we will!

Then, because no proper feast ends without something sweet, we’ll make the fabulous Bienenstich — German Bee Sting Cake. Soft, light cake, creamy filling and a beautiful caramelised almond topping. It's one of those desserts that looks impressive on the table but is wonderfully achievable once you know how.

Along the way we'll talk techniques, German food traditions and all the little tips that make these recipes work, before sitting down together to enjoy the enormous Oktoberfest feast we've created.

Come hungry. Very hungry ……and……wear stretch pants!

This is going to be a fun, hands-on day filled with cooking, learning, plenty of laughs and some seriously good German food.

And yes... Kartoffelpuffer.

oh and we should probably have some German Beer with our meal….ok you twisted my arm.
