Botanical Clay and Plaster Casting Workshop
Discover the magic of capturing nature in plaster as you create two beautiful botanical wall pieces using leaves, flowers and branches gathered from my garden.
In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you’ll choose the botanical specimens that speak to you and learn how to arrange them into a balanced design. We’ll press the botanicals into clay to create detailed moulds before pouring the plaster and waiting for the most exciting part—the moment your casts are revealed.
Once the plaster has set, you can leave your pieces naturally white or enhance the raised botanical details with paint, giving each one its own character and personality.
No previous art experience is needed. You’ll be guided through the entire process and leave with two finished botanical wall hangings, ready to display in your home or a sheltered outdoor space.
There is something deeply satisfying about creating art from plants gathered in the garden. Every cast captures a moment in nature, and no two pieces will ever be exactly the same.

About The Post & Rail
The Post & Rail is an immersive cooking, gardening and art school located at 58 Riddoch Street in the heart of Penola, just a stone’s throw from historic Petticoat Lane and the Mary MacKillop Penola Centre. We are also on the doorstep of the renowned Coonawarra wine region, home to an exceptional collection of cellar doors and wineries.
Set within the beautiful heritage-listed former Cobb & Co building, our classes are relaxed, welcoming and hands-on. Whether you are a complete beginner or have some experience, you’ll be encouraged, supported and made to feel at home.
Please arrive approximately 10 minutes before the advertised starting time so you can settle in, meet the group and be ready to begin. Allow approximately 30–35 minutes’ travel from either Mount Gambier or Naracoorte.
