About Cindy
I used to run a Farm Shop, Nursery and Cafe, all based from the produce from our farm and garden.
After planting and enjoying an orchard filled with over 150 different fruit tree varieties, all covered in a giant anti bird avery, I’ve really had my hands on some spectacular and abundant crops.
Preserving was something I learnt to do after the second year of planting because there weren’t birds stealing the fruit, I got it all!
There really is only so much fresh fruit you can eat in a day so I started preserving and once I started, I was hooked.
Whenever I preserve, I’m not really looking to just find a way to keep the produce so I don’t go hungry over winter.
I want to really capture the flavour and take something that is already great and make it into something that is even better.
These aren’t the recipes that you make to just hold the fruit until winter when you tip them out of the jar and then have to make something from them.
They aren’t the ones that go to the back of the cupboard and give away as gifts because they’re a bit ho hum!
These are the recipes that make you long for the next season of fruit or vegetables to ripen so that you can make them again.
They are recipes that are easy to make, all happen in the same day, are quicker than you think and with new sterilization methods, you can basically begin straight away, without boiling jars and lids.
It’s a game changer and makes the whole process so much more fun!
